Haridwar: The National Green Tribunal (NGT) on Tuesday directed the state chief secretary to present a ‘factual report’ over delay in shifting of Raiwala Ammunition dump from Motichur Corridor arear even after the Supreme Court (SC) had passed an order 12 years ago in this regard.The principal bench of the NGT, headed by chairman justice AK Goel, has directed chief secretary Utpal Kumar Singh to present the ‘factual report’ by July 08.The tribunal was hearing a plea of Centre for Wildlife and Environmental Litigation (CWEL) which had stated in its petition of February 12 this year that the Army dumping site is causing ‘serious environmental hazard as well as risk to ecology, biodiversity and wildlife of Chilla Motichur Corridor’ in Uttarakhand.The SC, in its March 23, 2007 order, had directed the ministry of defence to return 155 acres of forest land at Raiwala being used by the Army as an ammunition dumping site.
