American woman arrested for shooting obscene video at Lakshman Jhula; she denies charges

She was booked under Section 294 (obscene acts and songs) of the Indian Penal Code and Section 67 (transmitting obscene material) of the Information and Technology Act.

An American woman in her 30s was arrested for allegedly shooting an obscene video at Lakshman Jhula, a bridge over holy Ganges River in Rishikesh, Uttarakhand.

However, woman has denied the charges and claims that she was merely shooting a promotional video for her online business of garland and gems.

Muni-Ki-Reti police station SHO said the accused American woman filmed obscene content at the Lakshman Jhula and later uploaded the clip on social media. Cops produced her in a local court after recorded her arrest, he added.

This incident comes nearly two months after a Frenchwoman and a photographer were arrested for allegedly posting “obscene” content shot at the Lakshman Jhula. She also claimed that she did a photoshoot at the site for the promotion of her business.
