Delhi-Dehradun Shatabdi Express catches fire

A fire broke out in a coach of Delhi-Dehradun Shatabdi Express on Saturday due to short circuit, officials said. All passengers were safely evacuated and no one was injured as C5 compartment of the train caught fire, Uttarakhand DGP Ashok Kumar said. The fire has been brought under control and all passengers were evacuated safely. 

A fire broke out in a coach of Delhi-Dehradun Shatabdi Express on Saturday due to short circuit, officials said.

All passengers were safely evacuated and no one was injured as the C5 compartment of the train caught fire, Uttarakhand DGP Ashok Kumar said.

The fire has been brought under control and all passengers are safe, Kumar said.

 All passengers safe, passengers shifted to other coaches

It was reported that the loco pilot stopped the train in the middle of the forest by putting an emergency brake before the fire could increase. Immediately, coach C-5 was evacuated. With this, the coach was separated from the train and the other coaches were saved safely. All passengers aboard this coach C-5 are safe. All the passengers of the coach were shifted to other coaches. After which the train left for Dehradun. In the wake of the incident, Eublanes has been sent outside the Dehradun railway station.

The reported incident around 12:20 pm

More than 30 people were aboard in the bogey. The incident was reported to be around 12:20 pm on Saturday. At the same time, the reason for the fire is predicted to be the shot circuit fuse. The fire was destructive, the officer who were investigating the incident

There was no mobile network service is not available near  Rajaji Tiger Reserve area Kansaro. Due to which it took time to gather information about the incident.

There is no news of any damage due to the fire. At the same time, the fire was so terrible that on seeing it, the entire coach was engulfed in flames. The forest department has only one outpost at the place where the accident took place.

Officers rushed to the scene and are investigating the incident. Sitaram Shankar, superintendent of operations at Dehradun railway station, said that the Shatabdi Express had left for Dehradun from Raiwala.

Meanwhile, The fire brigade also faced difficulties due to the jungle that`s around. The railway department has sent additional patrolling staff from Dehradun on the spot.
