Glacier Burst in Chamoli, 384 rescued, 8 bodies recovered

In February also, the Dhauliganga River was flooded due to the glacier bursting in Chamoli. 54 bodies were recovered and hundreds of people went missing.  

Chamoli has once again been hit by natural disasters in Uttarakhand. Glacier Burst has occurred after the snowfall in Sumna in Neeti valley of Chamoli district. According to information received from the Indian Army, 384 people have been evacuated so far. So far 8 bodies have been recovered.

Giving information, the Central Command of the Indian Army said that a camp of the Border Road Organization (BRO) was hit by an icy storm. So far, 384 people have been rescued. The incident took place in the Sumna area of ​​the Joshimath sector, bordering China. The road from Bapakund to Sumna is being cleaned.

The glacier is broken due to heavy snowfall near Sumna-2, located on the road connecting the India-China border in Chamoli. Due to the incessant rains and snowfall in the mountainous areas over the past few days, the accident occurred due to heavy snowfall near Sumna-2, located on the Inner Line adjacent to the Indo-China border. CM Tirath Singh Rawat informed about the issue of an alert in this regard on Friday night.

The rescue team has been delayed to help due to heavy snowfall. Other projects, including NTPC, have ordered a stoppage of work at night.
