Probe lens on U’khand forest sub-inspector recruitment; STF registers case

Dehradun, Sep 5 (PTI) The Uttarakhand Special Task Force has registered a case in connection with alleged irregularities in forest sub-inspector recruitment examination.Allegations of irregularities in the examination held in 2021 have emerged at a time when recruitments by the Uttarakhand Subordinate Services Selection Commission and ad-hoc appointments to different posts in the Assembly Secretariat are under the scanner.On Sunday, the Special Task Force (STF) registered the FIR in connection with the online forest sub-inspector recruitment examination after preliminary investigations confirmed rigging.Director-General of Police Ashok Kumar ordered an STF probe following instructions from Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami, according to an official release.Dhami said the state government was pursuing a zero-tolerance policy on corruption and strict action would be taken against those involved if any irregularity was found in the recruitment process.The examination was conducted for 316 vacant posts of forest sub-inspectors in 18 shifts from September 16 to September 25. The STF and the cyber wing of Uttarakhand Police have confirmed irregularities and use of unfair means by some examinees.A case under sections 420 and 120B of the IPC, 66 of the IT Act, and under the Uttar Pradesh Public Examination (Prevention of Unfair Means) Act, has been registered at the Cyber police station here.The STF has already identified some examinees alleged to have adopted unfair means.Preliminary inquiry has also revealed the involvement of the examination conducting agency NSEIT. Some private institutions where the examinations were conducted have also been identified, according to the release.The STF suspects the involvement of people from the rural areas of Haridwar, western Uttar Pradesh, and Delhi.PTI ALM SZM SRY
