DEHRADUN: At Kabul House, residents continue to face problems even after getting some relief from the high court which has allowed them time till the end of the month to vacate the premises. The families have questioned the administrations partial unsealing of the houses after the HC order.Families had to spend two nights out in the open after the Dehradun district administration evicted them on December 2 despite the HC verdict. After two days of completing all legal formalities imposed on us by the administration, they have unsealed one room in my house. How am I expected to keep my family members and valuables all safe in a single room? The kitchen access is from the other room and the whole family is expected to share a washroom. Why this partial unsealing when the court order clearly gives us access to our homes for at least another month, said a resident on account of anonymity.Residents have complained of their valuables being broken, damaged and going missing when the eviction was carried out.We spent two nights in the open and they expect my kids, parents and my siblings and all of us to share one room. Our valuables continue to be strewn out in the open. The children have not been able to go to school for three days now while we have not been able to go to work. What sort of a relief is this? said Sunil Singh, whose sisters marriage is slated on December 11.We have a month in which we need to look out for our families and find alternate housing. The government is taking over our houses of 70 years and is not only not compensating us but also not helping us with an alternative. I was at the high court on Karva Chauth while my wife and kids were pushed out the next day. We are all struggling to simply get over this nightmare, added Saurabh Gaur, another resident. We also published the following articles recentlyKabul House occupants shut out despite high court ordersThe residents of Kabul House in Dehradun, India are facing eviction despite a court order granting relief till the end of the month.
