Woman, family members booked for abetting man’s suicide

Dehradun: A 20-year-old woman and three family members were booked for allegedly abetting the suicide of a man who consumed a poisonous substance in the citys Patelnagar area, police said on Sunday. Rohit Sharma, 21, succumbed during treatment at a hospital on November 2.Sub-inspector Sanoj Kumar said Rohits father Mahipal Sharma lodged a complaint against Alisha, her parents, Imtiaz and Rishma, and her maternal uncle, Nadeem.Mahipal alleged that Alisha, who lived with her family in the same neighbourhood, had trapped his son in a love affair. She and the other accused were harassing him due to which he took the drastic step. Based on the complaint, a case of abetment of suicide under IPC section 306 has been registered against the four, said Kumar, who added that no arrests had been made.
