Fire in railway tunnel, 44 workers rescued

Dehradun: Over 40 labourers had a narrow escape after a fire broke out in an under-construction tunnel of the Rishikesh-Karanprayag railway line in Rudraprayag district late Sunday evening.The tunnel is being constructed at Nagrasu, about 5km from the district headquarters. According to district authorities, there were 44 labourers in the tunnel when the fire broke out.A team of the State Disaster Response Force (SDRF) and District Disaster Response Force (DDRF) started a rescue operation."All 44 workers were safely rescued. The overall corridor-3 covers a 45.4km stretch with 28 underground stations and 19 elevated stations.
