Dehradun: Despite strict instructions given by chief minister Pushkar Singh Dhami to complete all road repair by this month-end, residents continue to face issues owing to the poor road network in the hill state. In the city centre, road repair has been under way for weeks now. Roads have been refurbished and repaired while those in Raipur have not even been touched. The patchwork done after the monsoon has long eroded. The entire stretch is covered in dust due to some other infra work. Even the main entrance of the police station is inaccessible due to drainage work but nothing has been done, said Shailesh Nautiyal, a resident. The city road network had been severely impacted during the rainy season and civic agencies had claimed the issue would be solved post monsoon on priority. When the authorities failed to deliver, October 31 was made the new deadline and again reset. The CM had warned officials of suspension if the repair work was not completed before November 30. With less than a week remaining, locals claimed the authorities have once more failed to finish work on time. Its clear the authorities cannot tackle the entire road network despite their tall claims. So now, the focus seems to be only on main roads that will be used by VIPs during the upcoming Investors Summit in December. Rajpur Road is almost complete and so is Mussoorie Road, except for a small patch around the Clock Tower. Similarly, Saharanpur Road has been refurbished and work has picked up on EC Road which had been in a pathetic state for the better part of the year, said a Yamuna colony resident on Chakrata Road.A PWD executive engineer said, The majority of roads were refurbished by last month. We have a few stretches left that are being worked upon day and night. The repair work will finish by the end of this month. Officials said roads like Sahastradhara road are part of bigger projects that have separate timelines and work on them is being done accordingly. We also published the following articles recentlyKolar road widening work in slow lane; a nightmare for commutersOngoing construction work and heavy traffic congestion on the six-lane road in Kolar area has become a nightmare for residents.
