New hostel of GDMC to be a green building: CS

The new hostel building of the Government Doon Medical College (GDMC) will be constructed as a green building. An order regarding this was given by the chief secretary Radha Raturi while presiding over a meeting of the Expenditure Finance Committee (EFC) of the hostel building of GDMC at her office on Tuesday. The hostel building will be constructed with a budget of Rs 7.69 crore on a 3.63 acre plot of land in the medical college. The project is expected to get completed in a time period of 24 months and is being financed under the State sector of the budget.  In the meeting the CS said that the building will prove beneficial for the under graduate, post graduate, interns and senior residents of the GDMC. She directed the health department and the work executing agency to ensure that the building is constructed with facilities of energy efficiency and rain water harvesting. The Bridge and Roof Company India Limited is constructing the hostel building. The meeting was attended by the secretary R Rajesh Kumar and other officers.
