HARIDWAR: Three people were killed and two others sustained serious injuries in an accident around midnight on Thursday near Lal Mandir (Jwalapur) railway tracks.They were all workers engaged in doubling of tracks in progress there. According to police sources, a mixer machine stuck in at the spot was being taken out by a JCB when a speeding train passed by sucking in the workers standing near the tracks. Their heads colliding with the train resulted into death of three of them as they were being taken to the hospital by 108 ambulance. They have been identified as Shamim, Bobby and Gurbax.The injured, including Jitendra and Narendra Bhaskar, were referred to the Jolly Grant hospital from the government district hospital. Their condition was serious, Jwalapur police station in charge Amarjit Singh said.According to the police inspector, all the deceased were from Uttar Pradesh. Shamim, 39, was a resident of Ratangarh (Bijnore) and Bobby, 19, was from Islamabad (Nagina). Gurbax, 39, belonged to Bijnore. Their families were informed and bodies handed over to them after post mortem on Friday. Of the two injured, Jitendra is a resident of Islamabad (Nagina) and Narendra lives in the railway colony, Haridwar.
