DEHRADUN: Union minister Rajnath Singh on Friday extolled the virtues of the Centre's demonetisation move, claiming that it was a step towards making the country a "super power." "Meanwhile, in another BJP rally in Someshwar, Union minister Nitin Gadkari took on Congress vice president Rahul Gandhi. After coming to power, the BJP government will probe all the financial irregularities committed in the Congress regime. "The former BJP president also attacked chief minister Harish Rawat. The Union home minister was addressing a public meeting organised by BJP candidate Ganesh Joshi in Dehradun.Hailing Prime Minister Narendra Modi's decision of note ban, Singh said: "In the times to come, our country will become a super power because of the timely decision of demonetisation.

The decision has been taken in the interest of the nation and I thank everyone for supporting it."The former BJP president also attacked chief minister Harish Rawat. Referring to Rawat's sting video episode, the home minister, said: "The Congress party has not only tarnished the image of Uttarakhand but also damaged the democratic values. After coming to power, the BJP government will probe all the financial irregularities committed in the Congress regime."Meanwhile, in another BJP rally in Someshwar, Union minister Nitin Gadkari took on Congress vice president Rahul Gandhi. He quipped: "Rahul Gandhi is making India free of Congress." Gadkari also flayed the Congress alleging that it "used" Muslims for vote banks.
