VIPs visiting U’khand to be gifted books on state, Hanuman, not flowers

Modi had said that the idea of gifting books instead of bouquets during ceremonies should be encouraged.Earlier, on Monday, the chief minister had gifted a book on Uttarakhand’s history to NDA presidential nominee Ram Nath Kovind when he was in the state capital to seek support from BJP MLAs and MPs.The books gifted to dignitaries would include those on Uttarakhand’s history, geography, social and cultural aspects, and ‘Sada Safal Hanuman’ by Dr Vijay Agrawal.Meanwhile, higher education minister Dhan Singh Rawat has also said that chief guests at functions, seminars and convocation ceremonies in government colleges would be presented with books on eminent personalities like Vivekananda, Rabindranath Tagore and Mahatma Gandhi.Talking to TOI, Dhan Singh said, “The purpose of the initiative is to ensure that inspiring stories of lives of great men and women are read.
