In a first 450 trekkers register for Adi Kailash trek

ALMORA: A record number of trekkers have registered to take part in the Adi Kailash trek which is held in the month of June along with the Kailash Mansarovar yatra.TS Martoliya, general manager of KMVN, “For the first time around 450 trekkers have signed up for the Adi Kailsh trek in Vyas valley of Pithoragarh district. “We have got several enquiries from Indian Army and other organizations for Milam and Panchachuli treks,” added Martoliya. The entire Adi Kailash route falls in Pithoragarh district.KMVN is now expecting the number of participants to go up for trek routes to Milam glacier and Panchachuli base camp treks. We also have got healthy bookings for trekking to Pindari and Sunderdhunga glacier.

A total of 124 people have already returned after completing treks to Pindari and Sunderdhunga glacier.”There are several similarities between Adi Kailash yatra and the Kailash Mansarovar yatra, known as the 'chota Kailash' (little Kailash) and 'bada Kailash' (big Kailash). Yatras for both destinations begin in the month of June and conclude in September. Only 16 batches, with 60 people each, are allowed to take the journey. Both journeys are organized by the KMVN. The entire Adi Kailash route falls in Pithoragarh district.KMVN is now expecting the number of participants to go up for trek routes to Milam glacier and Panchachuli base camp treks. “We have got several enquiries from Indian Army and other organizations for Milam and Panchachuli treks,” added Martoliya.
