“The party president directed that the 10 extra organisational districts should be disbanded immediately,” said an insider. In my constituency Bajpur, the entire Dalit vote shifted from the Congress to the BJP en masse which ensured the party’s comprehensive victory in the assembly elections. According to sources, Shah has given targets to every MLA to increase booth-level membership in their areas with a special focus on youth and backward communities. The change of heart of the Dalit voters is a significant indicator of the changing mindset of our community which has acknowledged that BJP is a party with a difference,” said Arya. This, he said added to "operational confusion" and should be tackled immediately.

DEHRADUN: During the course of his meetings with party members during his 2-day visit to Dehradun, Amit Shah is believed to have expressed displeasure at the "lackadaisical social media" presence of the state unit and asked leaders to rectify this on priority so that their social media accounts become "lively.” Shah who held almost 22 back-to-back meetings with different segments of the party’s hierarchy — from booth level workers to core group members (part of the highest decision making body of the party) — is said to have pointed out about the “lack of buzz in different social media platforms regarding the Uttarakhand BJP.” In a late night meeting before he left for Delhi, Shah told those present that while his own Twitter account had over 19 tweets pertaining to his 2-day tour of the state, the social media accounts of the state leaders had ‘hardly any activity.’ “When the party president made this point in the meeting, it left everyone red-faced. We realised that social media is a key focus area for the party president and we should have been more active on these platforms especially when he was in town,” said a senior BJP leader who was present in the meeting.Shah is also believed to have pulled up the state leadership for dividing the party’s units into 23 operational districts although the state’s administrative districts are currently 13. This, he said added to "operational confusion" and should be tackled immediately. “The party president directed that the 10 extra organisational districts should be disbanded immediately,” said an insider. According to sources, Shah has given targets to every MLA to increase booth-level membership in their areas with a special focus on youth and backward communities. He is believed to have told them he would review their performance after four months.Meanwhile, reacting to Shah’s visit, CM Trivendra Singh Rawat said on Thursday that the party president “infused fresh energy into all of us and we have all been charged up to deliver our best for the state.” Commenting on Shah’s directions to party members to reach out to the backward communities in the state, Yashpal Arya, one of the most prominent Dalit faces in the Trivendra Rawat cabinet, said, “The perception that the Dalit vote belongs to the Congress or BSP is now a thing of the past. In my constituency Bajpur, the entire Dalit vote shifted from the Congress to the BJP en masse which ensured the party’s comprehensive victory in the assembly elections. The change of heart of the Dalit voters is a significant indicator of the changing mindset of our community which has acknowledged that BJP is a party with a difference,” said Arya.
