2000 Red Fort attack: Suspected LeT terrorist arrested at IGI airport, sent to police custodyIn a joint operation, Delhi police and the Gujarat anti-terrorism squad arrested a suspected Lashkar-e-Taiba (LeT) terrorist for allegedly being involved in a terror attack on the Red Fort in 2000. He has been sent into sent to a 10-day police remand by a Delhi Court. The Gujarat Anti-Terrorism Squad informed the Delhi Police that the terrorist, identified as Bilal Ahmed Kawa, was nabbed from Terminal 3 of Delhi’s Indira Gandhi International Airport. Money to the tune of Rs 29.50 lakh was transferred through hawala in various bank accounts, including those of Kawa, to fund the attack, according to the police. Kawa was on the run since 2000 and was hiding in Kashmir.

Kawa, declared a proclaimed offender in the case, was travelling from Srinagar to Delhi. He has been sent into sent to a 10-day police remand by a Delhi Court. Kawa was on the run since 2000 and was hiding in Kashmir. Money to the tune of Rs 29.50 lakh was transferred through hawala in various bank accounts, including those of Kawa, to fund the attack, according to the police.
