Minor tribal girl from Jharkhand brutally assaulted by her doctor employer in Delhi

NEW DELHI: A 14-year-old girl employed as a domestic worker was allegedly brutally assaulted by her lady employer who is a doctor and a resident of a upscale Model Town in North Delhi. She was burnt, beaten, attacked with scissor, spat at and bitten by lady employer who is a doctor! "She was beaten up viciously everyday by her lady employer and had deep marks, cuts and bruises all over her body. She informed that she was burnt by her lady employer by an iron and hot water was regularly thrown at her. The accused lady employer has been arrested by the Delhi Police.

NEW DELHI: A 14-year-old girl employed as a domestic worker was allegedly brutally assaulted by her lady employer who is a doctor and a resident of a upscale Model Town in North Delhi. A tribal, the child who hails from a village in Jharkhand was allegedly attacked with scissors, burnt, beaten and also bitten. The police have arrested the employer and the child has been rescued and will be kept under the protection of a children home as per the orders of the Child Welfare Committee A case has been registered at Model Town police station . The SDM Model Town has also been asked by DCW to ensure that sections under bonded labour are added to the FIR. The accused lady employer has been arrested by the Delhi Police. The office of the placement agency was raided in the night itself.Delhi Commission for Women chief Swati Jaihind shared shocking details of the case on Twitter. "Received call on Delhi Commission for Women 181 regarding a girl being tortured by employer. We rescued the 14-year-old Jharkhandi domestic maid from Model Town. Can't describe her condition! She was burnt, beaten, attacked with scissor, spat at and bitten by lady employer who is a doctor! Most evil!"She went on to tweet that the "Little girl was so brave. Her lady employer so vicious." "A doctor herself, how could she torture a 14-year-old in such a brutal manner. Little girl was confined to house, not given sweater, food and has been reduced to bones. Police arrested lady employer! Should be given maximum punishment!," Jaihind said.The DCW on inquiring learnt that the child's parents are very poor and she had been brought to Delhi for work. A placement agency then placed her with the family of this family in Model Town about four months back for domestic work. "However, she was physically and mentally tortured, confined to the house and not paid any money," Jaihind stated."She was beaten up viciously everyday by her lady employer and had deep marks, cuts and bruises all over her body. She informed that she was burnt by her lady employer by an iron and hot water was regularly thrown at her. Several burn marks were visible on her body," the DCW states in a detailed press statement based on what the child had told them.The DCW team also saw bite marks all over her face. According to DCW the minor has alleged that the lady employer used to bite her in anger.Her employer had allegedly also attacked her in the eyes with scissors. Her eyes were swollen when she as rescued. The girl has also alleged that the lady employer repeatedly attempted to strangulate her.As per the DCW, the girl has alleged that just the day before she was rescued the lady employer sat over her and banged a weighing machine across her head repeatedly. "The lady employer spat at the girl regularly and encouraged her children to do so too!," the DCW has stated.In what appears to be a case of bondage, the girl also informed that she was not given food to eat for days. "After two days, she would be given only two slices of stale bread to eat. The girl was severely malnourished. The lady employer also did not allow the girl to wear sweaters or use blankets at night," the DCW statement puts on record.The DCW chief lauded the role of an alert neighbour who reached out to seek help. "I wish to congratulate the neighbour who contacted the 181 women helpline and gave us information about the girl. If the girl had continued to stay in the home for another month, she may have even died. I would urge all to inform us about such girls," Jaihind said.
