Man axes neighbour to death in Noida

Suspecting his neighbour to be having an affair with his wife, a 35-year-old man killed the 28-year old with an axe in Sector 132 of Gautam Budh Nagar on Saturday afternoon. According to police, the accused has been identified as Vijay Shankar, an e-rickshaw driver, who suspected his neighbour, Jai Mangal, a labourer, of having an affair with his wife. Mangal collapsed on the floor and Shankar fled from the spot," said Vedpal Singh, Station House Officer (Expressway) police station. While Mangal was washing his hands, Shankar picked up an axe and hit him from behind on the head. He had been living in the same house as that of Shankar for the past one year with his nephew.

Police said the accused is absconding and they have formed teams to nab him. According to police, the accused has been identified as Vijay Shankar, an e-rickshaw driver, who suspected his neighbour, Jai Mangal, a labourer, of having an affair with his wife. Shankar eliminated Mangal by attacking him with an axe on his head. "The incident took place at around 2 pm when Mangal had come home to have lunch. While Mangal was washing his hands, Shankar picked up an axe and hit him from behind on the head. Mangal collapsed on the floor and Shankar fled from the spot," said Vedpal Singh, Station House Officer (Expressway) police station. Locals soon informed the police about the incident and a team reached the spot and recovered the body. "Mangal was rushed to a nearby hospital where he was declared dead on arrival. We have sent the body for a post-mortem. Doctors informed us that the cause of death was excess loss of blood," Singh added. Police said the accused's wife has claimed that she often had issues with her husband as he doubted her of having an extramarital affair with Mangal. "Shankar had been planning to eliminate Mangal for a very long time and found the right time on Saturday. We have registered an FIR under Section 302 (Murder) of the Indian Penal Code and have formed teams to nab him," said a senior police officer. Mangal hailed from Basti district and was working as a labourer at Asian Paints company. He had been living in the same house as that of Shankar for the past one year with his nephew.
