more-in Delhi CM and Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) convenor Arvind Kejriwal’s apology to former Punjab Minister Bikram Singh Majithia might be a strategy to get rid of defamation suits against them but the party cadre in Punjab are not happy with the move. Following the letter of apology, AAP’s Leader of Opposition in Punjab Sukhpal Singh Khaira said that they are “appalled” and “stunned” by this move. “We’re appalled n stunned by the apology of ArvindKejriwal tendered today,we don’t hesitate to admit that we haven’t been consulted on this meek surrender by a leader of his stature,” [sic] Mr. Khaira tweeted. Questions timing “I fail to understand the timing of Kejrewal’ apology when STF of PB has stated to the High Court today that there’s substantial evidence to proceed against Bikram Majitha on the issue of drugs,” [sic] also tweeted Mr. Khaira, questioning the timing of Mr. Kejriwal’s apology. In the apology letter sent on Thursday, Mr. Kejriwal admitted that the allegations he had made against Mr. Majithia were “unfounded”. The AAP, however, said that this was not done as an acceptance of making “false allegations” against Mr. Majithia or other leaders but a strategy to get the over 20 defamation cases against their leaders quashed. Another AAP MLA from Punjab, Kanwar Sandhu, also said that the State leaders were not consulted before making such a move. “Arvind Kejriwal’ apology to Bikram Majithia in the defamation case on drugs is a let down to the people, especially the youth of Punjab. We in Punjab have not been taken into the loop. Our fight for Punjab continues,” [sic] he tweeted. In another tweet he said, “If you stand for truth, facing defamation cases is a way of life. I am still facing defamation filed by Punjab cable mafia. Will fight it to the end.” Mr. Khaira, also said that they will make a press statement regarding Mr. Kejriwal’s apology on Friday.
