Education gets largest share of pie

The total number of schools in Delhi increased from 5,155 in 2012-13 to 5,772 in 2016-17, and the number of students enrolled in the schools increased from 42.68 lakh in 2012-13 to 44.43 lakh in 2016-17, the survey said. The student-teacher ratio also bettered itself to 30:1. The survey showed that construction of 19 new school buildings has been completed and around 6,787 additional classrooms have been made functional in various existing schools. The survey stated that an integrated approach was adopted for capacity building by the SCERT, whereby apart from innovative in-house capacity building programmes, 89 heads of schools were given exposure to various national and international institutions of repute. The government has also started sports coaching and training through private sports academies.
