AAP may sound poll bugle in Haryana

Two of the three AAP Rajya Sabha MPs for Delhi, Mr. Gupta and N.D. Gupta, both have roots in Haryana. The “Haryana bachao” or “Save Haryana” rally would focus on the need to rid the State of “decades of misrule and jungle raj”, AAP Delhi Rajya Sabha MP Sushil Gupta said on Saturday. Sources said an announcement about contesting the Haryana Lok Sabha seats could also be made during the rally. AAP convenor and Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal would address a rally in Hisar on Sunday, the party said on Saturday. Mr. Kejriwal will announce that the AAP will contest all 90 seats and take on the BJP government over the state of law and order as well as farmers’ issues in Haryana,” said Mr. Gupta.

With over a year to go to the Assembly elections in Haryana, the Aam Aadmi Party is expected to officially throw its hat in the ring and launch an attack on the BJP government over law and order and the condition of farmers in the State. AAP convenor and Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal would address a rally in Hisar on Sunday, the party said on Saturday. The “Haryana bachao” or “Save Haryana” rally would focus on the need to rid the State of “decades of misrule and jungle raj”, AAP Delhi Rajya Sabha MP Sushil Gupta said on Saturday. Though other party leaders have earlier said that the AAP would contest all 90 seats in the Haryana Assembly, Mr. Kejriwal is expected to officially announce the party’s intention at the rally. Sources said an announcement about contesting the Haryana Lok Sabha seats could also be made during the rally. “We are expecting 40,000 people at the rally. Mr. Kejriwal will announce that the AAP will contest all 90 seats and take on the BJP government over the state of law and order as well as farmers’ issues in Haryana,” said Mr. Gupta. Two of the three AAP Rajya Sabha MPs for Delhi, Mr. Gupta and N.D. Gupta, both have roots in Haryana. When the two were named to be the AAP’s picks for Rajya Sabha in January, party sources had said that the move was made with an eye on Haryana.
