more-in A 23-year-old man was allegedly shot at six times while on the way back home on his motorbike with his woman friend in the early hours of Wednesday. The injured biker, who sustained injuries on the limbs, is out of danger, said the police. They added that the motive was suspected to be rivalry developed during Ganesh Mahotsav procession a few months ago. The woman is being questioned regarding the incident. PCR call Officers said they received a call from the woman saying her friend Gaurav had been shot near Chirag Dilli flyover. A team from Ambedkar Nagar police station reached the spot and found Gaurav sitting on the footpath, bleeding. He was taken to AIIMS, where doctors conducted a surgery to remove the bullets. When questioned, the woman told the police that they were returning from a friend’s home when two youths on a bike waylaid them and forced Gaurav to stop. They had an argument over something, following which one of them whipped out a pistol and fired at Gaurav. She added that the men intentionally hit him on the limbs to “teach him a lesson” and fled. The police said Gaurav’s family suspects the role of some of their neighbours, with whom they are involved in a rivalry, in the incident. The possibility of the woman’s family being involved in the attack has not been ruled out either, they added. A case of attempt to murder has been registered and efforts are on to identify the shooters.
