A 33-year old man allegedly committed suicide at his residence in South Delhi's Vasant Kunj area on Wednesday evening. While the family members said that all was not between the man and his wife and the torture by his wife could be a reason behind him taking the extreme step, police officials said that there were no injury marks on the body. The body has been sent for post-mortem examination. According to the police, a call was received at 3:56 pm on Wednesday about a death due to hanging. The police officials reached the location after which the body was rushed to Spinal Injuries Hospital where he was declared dead on arrival. The deceased was identified as Khitij Malhotra who worked as a digital marketing head for Allianz Insurance company. "The family of the deceased had come to the hospital and alleged that the relation between the couple was not good and they suspected foul play in his death. However, there was no injury mark on the body and ligature marks were clearly visible on his neck," said Milind Mahadeo Dumbre, DCP, South-West. Anil Malhotra, the father of the deceased said that the couple got married two years ago and had been living separately. "My daughter-in-law Vipasha Khurana and my son were having constant fights for the past three days. She called us up around 3:45 pm and informed us that he had passed away. First, we could not believe what she said. She then informed my younger son Chirag who was at office in Noida," said Malhotra. While Chirag left from Noida to reach Vasant Kunj, Anil left his residence in Pitampura. The family members had seen the house but did not remember the exact house number. The family members begged Vipasha to call for an ambulance but she did not. Later on, they saw the body had been taken down and she was present as well. One of the neighbours informed the police who then rushed to D-8 block where he resided. The father of the deceased alleged that the family was being threatened as well. "This is not the first time she has done this. She keeps torturing my parents who are senior citizens and they had also submitted a complaint regarding the same to the police. The doctor told me he had died four hours ago. Why was there a delay in taking him to the hospital or calling the police? Khitij had spoken to one of his friends and was crying over the phone. He had conveyed his friend that he was scared and that his wife would torture and kill him," Chirag said. Police investigations are underway. The autopsy would be conducted on Friday.
