United Sikh Association opens legal cell to help needy Sikhs

Tribune News ServiceNew Delhi, June 27Having seen harassment of women after getting married with NRIs and others, the United Sikh Association (USA) today opened a legal cell — headed by Nidhi Banga — to provide free help to the needy people of Sikh community and others. Daman Singh, who left Shiromani Akali Dal to form his own party USA, said that apart from unsuccessful marriage cases, the cell would also take up the issue of religious cases. Nidhi said that priority would be to stop breaking the marriage by counselling the boys and girls separately. He said in many cases poor girls of the community were married to rich NRIs. In such a situation the cell will fight the case on behalf of the victim.

Recently, people have noticed that a wrapper of a food product had photo Darbar Sahib. The USA raised question against using the picture of Darbar Sahib and got it eradicated. He said in many cases poor girls of the community were married to rich NRIs. A few months after the marriage is broken. Thereafter, the victims do not have money to defend them in the court. In such a situation the cell will fight the case on behalf of the victim. Daman said that he had received positive response from Delhi and from many cities in Haryana and Punjab. Nidhi said that priority would be to stop breaking the marriage by counselling the boys and girls separately.
