Woman advocate raped by senior inside Saket court

A 29-year-old woman advocate was allegedly raped by a senior advocate inside his chamber at Saket district court, police said on Sunday. The woman called the police control room at 12.45 a.m. on Sunday from the Saket court premises. The accused was arrested from his home in south Delhi’s Sangam Vihar and later produced before the Saket court. Called to discuss caseWhen the police team reached the spot, the woman, who also practises in Saket court, alleged that she was sexually assaulted by the senior lawyer. “The victim said that the senior advocate, who is in his 50s, asked her to come to his chamber in the evening on July 14 on the pretext of discussing a court case.

Called to discuss case When the police team reached the spot, the woman, who also practises in Saket court, alleged that she was sexually assaulted by the senior lawyer. “The victim said that the senior advocate, who is in his 50s, asked her to come to his chamber in the evening on July 14 on the pretext of discussing a court case. She went there around 7 p.m. and they had a conversation. The lawyer said the accused, who was in an inebriated condition, sexually assaulted her in his chamber and fled,” said a senior police officer. The woman was taken to a hospital for medical examination. She has recorded her statement before a Magistrate under Section 164 CrPC, the officer added. Chamber sealed The chamber where the alleged incident took place has been sealed, and the Forensic Science Laboratory and crime team have inspected it, the officer said. “A case has been registered under IPC Section 376 [rape]. The accused was arrested from his home in south Delhi’s Sangam Vihar and later produced before the Saket court. He has been sent to judicial custody,” said the officer.
