more-in The husband of a 39-year-old flight attendant who allegedly jumped from the terrace of her house on July 13, was arrested on Monday evening, the police said. DCP (South) Romil Baaniya said that the accused Mayank Singhvi, husband of victim Anissia Batra, was interrogated for an hour at Hauz Khas police station after which he was arrested under Section 304B (Dowry death). “He will be produced before the Magistrate on Tuesday and his custody for further interrogation will be sought,” Mr. Baaniya said. The victim, a flight attendant with an international airline and daughter of a retired Army officer, allegedly committed suicide by jumping off the terrace of her house in Panchsheel Park around 4.30 p.m. on July 13. She had allegedly messaged her husband and a few other friends that she was about to commit suicide. Mr. Singhvi allegedly told the police that by the time he reached the terrace, she had already committed suicide. She was rushed to a nearby private hospital where she was declared dead. Complaint on June 27 Her parents had approached the police on June 27, saying that their daughter was a victim of domestic violence, said Mr. Baaniya. They also said that if something happens to Anissia, then Mr. Singhvi and his family are to be blamed, the officer added. The victim’s second autopsy was conducted on Monday after her parents demanded that it should be videographed . The investigating team also called Forensic Science Laboratory team on Monday along with the crime team to reconstruct the sequence of events. “However, relevant exhibits were lifted by the crime team on the day of the incident,” Mr. Baaniya said. The police have recovered the accused’s car, mobile phones of the couple and victim’s diamond ring. “Bank accounts of the victim and the accused have also been seized as part of investigation,” the officer said.
