more-in A Delhi court on Tuesday sent the husband of air hostess Annisia Batra, who allegedly committed suicide in south Delhi’s Panchsheel Park on July 13, to two weeks’ judicial custody. Annisia’s husband Mayank Singhvi was arrested on Monday evening. Cops moved application Metropolitan Magistrate Anuj Kumar sent Mr. Mayank to 14 days’ judicial remand after the police moved an application saying that the accused was not required for custodial interrogation and he be sent to judicial custody. The police also said that Annisia’s in-laws will be questioned after Friday. Deputy Commissioner of Police (South) Romil Baaniya said Mr. Mayank’s parents have been granted exemption from joining the probe by the court till Friday on personal grounds. Anissia’s family alleged that her husband used to physically abuse her and harass her for dowry. Before jumping off the terrace of her residence on July 13, she had sent a message to her husband saying she was going kill herself. When he reached the terrace, a labourer from the adjacent house told him that she had jumped. She later succumbed to injuries at a hospital. Mr. Mayank, a software engineer in Gurgaon, told the police that they had regular fights as there were “compatibility issues”. They had an argument on the day of the incident as well, following which she jumped from the terrace, police said. The police also said that Anissia’s family had told them in a complaint on June 27 that if anything happened to their daughter, her husband would be responsible.
