Ghaziabad 7 robbers held 11 cars recovered

GHAZIABAD: As many as seven automobile lifters and mobile phone snatchers have been arrested from different parts of the city and 11 cars, five motorcycles, 17 mobile phones and two laptops have been recovered from their possession. The accused were active in Delhi-NCR and used to sell spare parts of vehicles after getting them dismantled in Delhi and Meerut. Most of them were stolen from Delhi, said police.In Indirapuram, police arrested two thieves who used to snatch mobile phones and other valuable gadgets from people using arms. Manoj has 22 cases against him, while Jai Prakash has 11 cases registered against him. In this way, the accused would buy time in taking the stolen vehicles to a safe place.

The accused were caught from Sahibabad, Sihani Gate and Indirapuram areas of the city on Friday night.In Sahibabad, Nadeem, a resident of Delhi’s Gokulpuri, and Nadeem, a resident of Sundernagari in Delhi, were caught. Their friends who worked as scrap dealers helped them in disposing of vehicles. Four cars – two Honda City, one Chevrolet Beat and one Santro - were recovered from their possession.Three accused - Zakir and Wasim, both residents of Delhi, and Nazeem, a resident of Hapur - were caught by Sihani Gate police.SSP Vaibhav Krishna said, “The trio used to target vehicles parked in secluded areas. While two of their accomplices would break open the vehicle using duplicate keys and fled with the vehicle from the spot, the third person would stay back and give false information about the direction in which vehicle went. In this way, the accused would buy time in taking the stolen vehicles to a safe place. They would also sell the spare parts of vehicles after getting them dismantled in Sotiganj in Meerut and Delhi.Seven cars, including Honda City and Duster, were recovered from their possession. Most of them were stolen from Delhi, said police.In Indirapuram, police arrested two thieves who used to snatch mobile phones and other valuable gadgets from people using arms. Police recovered five motorcycles and scooties, besides 17 mobile phones from their possession.The accused identified as Manoj, a resident of Indirapuram, and Jai Prakash, a resident of Khoda, changed their residences every few months to avoid detection. Manoj has 22 cases against him, while Jai Prakash has 11 cases registered against him. They have been to jail multiple times in past 10 years, said police.
