more-in The general manager and manager of an officers’ club run by the New Delhi Municipal Council (NDMC) were transferred on Monday, after a recent Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) search of the premises unearthed records of alleged illegal money transfers of officials. The Hindu had reported on Monday that the CBI had found ‘hawala’ records indicating that senior officials, including two senior IAS officers, had allegedly illegally transferred money abroad. These records, money, watches and jewellery were seized from the office of the caterer of the Palika Services Officers Institute (PSOI), Rakesh Tiwari, who earlier ran the canteen at the CBI headquarters. Replacements In an office order by the link officer of the PSOI management committee on Monday, Sudhir Kumar Singh, a superintendent engineer (SE), was replaced by T.R. Meena, another SE, as the general manager of the club. This would be the additional charge for Mr. Meena. The order also posted Deputy Director Tanveer Ahmed as the manager, as an additional charge, replacing Sanjay Singhal, an assistant engineer. The order also asked Mr. Singhal to hand over all relevant records to Mr. Ahmed immediately. When contacted, NDMC chairperson Naresh Kumar said the decision was taken in the interest of transparency as the investigating agency was carrying out its probe. As reported by The Hindu, the CBI had searched the premises of the PSOI earlier this month as a part of its investigation into the allegation that Mr. Tiwari was receiving money through ‘hawala’. The investigating agency had filed an FIR in the matter and arrested Mr. Tiwari.
