Atal's death: Delhi govt offices to stay shut

NEW DELHI: All offices and institutions of the Delhi government will remain closed on Friday as a mark of respect to former Prime Minister Atal Bihari Vajpayee "I am deeply saddened. A great loss for India," chief minister Arvind Kejriwal tweeted. "All Delhi government offices, schools and other institutions shall remain closed tomorrow (Friday), as mark of respect for our dear departed Atal ji," deputy CM Manish Sisodia announced on Twitter Sisodia and CM Arvind Kejriwal visited AIIMS earlier on Thursday to enquire about the health of the BJP patriarch. Kejriwal had requested party volunteers and well-wishers not to celebrate his birthday, which fell on Thursday, in view of deteriorating health condition of the former PM.The Haryana and Uttar Pradesh governments declared a seven-day state mourning and announced a holiday on Friday for all government offices.
