The others were all customers who were arrested when the apartment was raided. Entry to it was restricted and invitations were sent out on WhatsApp. The place wasn’t publicised anywhere and it got its customers entirely through word of mouth. It was called Game King Parlour and players could win 36 times the money they invested in the games.DCP (east) Pankaj Singh said on Sunday, the beat staff of the area got secret information regarding the parlour after which a team led by SHO C R Meena and ACP Anand Kumar Mishra was formed and investigation taken up. Police said desktop computers and other items were seized from the apartment along with bags full of cash that the duo had made in just a fortnight.DCP Singh said a case under sections of Delhi Public Gambling Act was registered at the New Ashok Nagar police station. It emerged during investigation that the owner of the parlour was earlier involved in a similar racket and arrested in east Delhi. Amit was also arrested once before that in 2014.Police said both Amit and Neeraj were unemployed, and when all attempts to land a job failed, they decided to float their own businesses. They both struggled in that and suffered losses until they could no longer shoulder the debt burden or clear it by fair means. Crime was the easy way out. So they started this illegal gambling racket. They started in Noida and for two years they managed to evade detection. Emboldened by this dream run, they decided to shift base to Delhi. That was less than a fortnight ago.The operators would lure customers to place a bet of minimum Rs 1,000 on an online number. If it was the lucky number, then one could get 36 times the amount.Police said they were investigating the case and a few more names of family members of the duo have come up. Once there is sufficient proof against them, action would be taken against them as well.
