City sees spike in dengue cases

Last week’s corporation report on vector-borne diseases, released on September 17, had reported 100 cases of dengue. Dengue cases in the city saw a spike for a second week in a row with about a 100 cases being recorded last week, stated the latest report by the South Delhi Municipal Corporation on Monday. This takes the total number of dengue cases to 343, malaria to 256 and chikungunya to 68. Apart from this, 31 malaria and 16 chikungunya cases were reported this week. Compared to last yearThe numbers of vector-borne diseases tend to spike during the months August, September and October, however, the number of cases recorded by the corporation this year have been lower than previous years.

The action taken report of the corporation states that 11,38,340 houses have been sprayed for mosquitoes by all three corporations. Legal notices for ‘mosquitogenic’ conditions were issued to 1,43,611 houses.
