"No word from DU on DUSU prez’s 'fake' marksheet"

We are still waiting for their official response.” Almost 20 days after sending the first letter, DU claims it is yet to receive any response from TU.This was categorically denied by the Vellore-based university. V Peruvalluthi, the TU registrar, said: “So far, and even today I checked my mails, we have not received any communication from DU. And we don’t know why DU is claiming otherwise.”These developments have given rise to serious concerns about whether the DU administration is buying time to bury the matter. On September 27, 2018 Sarao said DU was expecting TU’s response in “a couple of days as Baisoya is DUSU president and it was imperative to take action at the earliest. The certificate he has produced was fake and not from our university.”On the delay, Sarao claimed DU could only send letters by post “because there are no phone or fax numbers on their website”.But the TU registrar countered the claims.

NEW DELHI: The authorities at Thiruvalluvar University (TU), Vellore , told TOI on Wednesday they had not so far received any communication from Delhi University (DU) regarding the allegedly “fake marksheet” of DU Students’ Union president Ankiv Baisoya, contradicting DU’s claim that it had sent TU two letters and three reminders on the matter.Despite this correspondent sending a series of queries to DU top brass on October 5, 9 and 17, 2018, the university has still not answered. While this correspondent got confirmation from TU in the third week of September (a week after the allegations were made), and the university officially stated to the Tamil Nadu government that Baisoya had never been its student, the head of department of Buddhist Studies at DU is claiming — even a month after the allegations were made — that it does not have the phone or fax numbers of TU officials. On Wednesday, when contacted, HoD of Buddhist Studies K T S Sarao told TOI: “We have sent a second letter to Thiruvalluvar University on Tuesday by mail. Due to the delay, the National Students’ Union of India (NSUI), which raised the issue of the fake certificate, moved the Delhi high court early this month.Sarao earlier told TOI that Baisoya’s case had been fast-tracked given the sensitiveness of the matter and that it had sent a second letter to TU on October 16, 2018. On September 27, 2018 Sarao said DU was expecting TU’s response in “a couple of days as Baisoya is DUSU president and it was imperative to take action at the earliest. So our Buddhist Studies five-member committee has told the DU administration that we have sent the marksheet and has asked TU to confirm whether or not the documents are authentic.”TOI didn’t receive any response to queries sent to the vice-chancellor, pro vice-chancellor and registrar.TU had sent a letter to the Tamil Nadu State education principal secretary stating that “Ankiv Baisoya has not enrolled either in our university or in any of our constituent or affiliated colleges and is not our student at all. The certificate he has produced was fake and not from our university.”On the delay, Sarao claimed DU could only send letters by post “because there are no phone or fax numbers on their website”.But the TU registrar countered the claims. “We have all the information on our website and we also have a helpline number there which anyone can contact us on,” he said. This was corroborated by TOI, which found not only the official phone and fax numbers but a mobile number as well.
