The aunt has succumbed to her injuries while his mother is undergoing treatment. According to the police, the incident took place at around 9:30am when the accused Kanhaiya Kumar started fighting with his wife Sunita. "Kumar's daughter Poonam told us that her father asked her mother Sunita not to step out of the house without seeking his permission. In the meantime, Kumar's mother Maya and aunt Bala Devi came out in Sunita's support. The two tried to make Kumar understand that in order to earn money and support the family Sunita needs to step out since he cannot earn," said a senior police officer. During the conversation, Kumar lost his cool and rushed out of the house and returned with a brick and smashed it on his mother Maya's face, police said. "Later when Bala Devi tried to save Maya, the man picked up a mud-filled earthen pot and threw it on Devi's head. He then tried to hurt his daughter Poonam, her 4-year-old son Sonu and his wife Sunita, however they managed to rush out of the house," the office said. On hearing the cries, locals gathered outside the house and called the police. A police team arrived on the spot and rushed the woman to hospital where Devi died while Maya is under treatment. "Following the incident a case of Murder was registered was registered against Kumar. A team zeroed on the Kumar and arrested him from the locality," said Nupur Prasad, Deputy commissioner of police (North). Family members of the accused claimed that Kumar had become agitated and aggressive from the past one week. While, Kumar was never under any kind of medication, the family claimed. They tried taking him to hospital but he never agreed. Earlier he used to make furniture but he had recently stopped going to work. Family members are clueless as to what happened to him.
