Delhi: Three transgenders arrested for stripping on Signature Bridge

Three transgenders have been arrested in connection with an incident where they were seen stripping and making merry on the newly inaugurated Signature bridge in the national Capital. In the mobile footages shot by passersby, four transgenders can be seen clicking selfies and photographs of each other. Atul Kumar Thakur, Deputy Commissioner of Police (North-East) has confirmed the arrests but refused to divulge names of the accused persons. The Signature Bridge has become a popular hangout spot ever since its opening. Some have been seen taking selfies by climbing onto the boundary of the bridge.

Three transgenders have been arrested in connection with an incident where they were seen stripping and making merry on the newly inaugurated Signature bridge in the national Capital. The Delhi Police had on Wednesday registered a case under Section 294 (Does any obscene act in any public place) and 34 (Acts done by several persons in furtherance of common intention) of the Indian Penal Code (IPC) against the accused persons. Atul Kumar Thakur, Deputy Commissioner of Police (North-East) has confirmed the arrests but refused to divulge names of the accused persons. "The scooty has been recovered by the police and the fourth accused has also been identified," said Thakur. In the mobile footages shot by passersby, four transgenders can be seen clicking selfies and photographs of each other. Suddenly one of the four accused started to taking off his clothes and posing nude for pictures. Following this, the three others also stripped naked. Most of the commuters passing by stopped to take photos and videos, some even came out of their car to witness the ruckus caused by the four accused. The Signature Bridge has become a popular hangout spot ever since its opening. Some have been seen taking selfies by climbing onto the boundary of the bridge. Police have written to the civic authorities to install informative boards cautioning people against clicking selfies in a dangerous manner and the traffic police are issuing challans against violations.
