Delhi woman hit by car dumped at dark spot

The police later took her to a hospital, where she is in the process of recovery.The victim's daughter, Manju, 40, said she tried to call the police from inside the car but her mobile phone was snatched away. The accused have been identified and shall be arrested at the earliest, police said.The car had hit the corncob seller around 10.30pm, as she and her foster daughter were wrapping up for the day.

New Delhi: An elderly corncob ( bhutta) seller was allegedly hit by a car near Rajghat on Friday night, pulled into the vehicle by its occupants in the name of getting her injuries treated and then dumped at a desolate spot, unconscious.Luckily for the 61-year-old victim, Durgi, a passerby responded to calls for help by her foster daughter - who managed to get into the car with Durgi - and called the police. The police later took her to a hospital, where she is in the process of recovery.The victim's daughter, Manju, 40, said she tried to call the police from inside the car but her mobile phone was snatched away. She, however, managed to take a picture of the vehicle. The accused have been identified and shall be arrested at the earliest, police said.The car had hit the corncob seller around 10.30pm, as she and her foster daughter were wrapping up for the day."As I ran to call one of our friends for help, I see that the driver had got down and pushed amma into the rear seat of his car. "Moments later, they pushed us out of the car," she told TOI.Manju said the road where they were dumped was dark and they could not find any help until a biker stopped and helped them make a PCR call. DCP (New Delhi) Madhur Verma said a case was registered and based on several clues, the accused driver had been identified and shall be arrested soon.
