Central automatic system ends snag of Delhi Metro

The Delhi Metro Rail Corporation (DMRC) on Thursday introduced a central automatic control system for an easy and hassle-free movement. INTERLOCKINGAt present, there are 17 interlocking sections on the Blue Line to maintain train operations through automatic signalling. The signalling team had repaired the signalling system by noon. Earlier, a technical failure on December 5 also affected the service on the Blue Line. The move comes after a signal glitch disrupted the Blue Line service, between Yamuna Bank and Vaishali, from 9 am to 11 am.

The move comes after a signal glitch disrupted the Blue Line service, between Yamuna Bank and Vaishali, from 9 am to 11 am. Earlier, a technical failure on December 5 also affected the service on the Blue Line. The frequency fell from a regular 2-3 minutes to 5-8 minutes. Also, 16 trips were cancelled and 20 trains (out of 786 planned) were delayed on the route on December 5. As per the new changes, the services on a major portion of the Blue Line i.e, from Dwarka to Noida City Centre are being run in a seamless manner in one go with a frequency of around 4-minute-30-second on automatic mode through central control. “Train services on a minor portion of the Blue Line i.e, from Yamuna Bank to Vaishali are being run in an independent loop with a frequency of around 5-min-30-sec through local control,” the official said. The signalling team had repaired the signalling system by noon. “However, it is still under observation and the original train operation plan will be reintroduced on the entire Blue Line once the system stabilises,” informed the official.
