Two foreigners with 8 kg heroin arrested by Special Cell of Delhi Police

According to the police, the accused have been identified as Asadullah (27), an Afghan national and Moussa Zie (30), an Ivory Coast national. Asadullah was residing in Hauz Rani and was arrested on January 8 from South Delhi. Moussa Zie was residing in Nihal Vihar area and was arrested the following day from South Delhi as well. Six kilograms of heroin from Asadullah and two kilograms from Moussa Zie was seized. A case under appropriate sections of law has been registered. Sleuths of the Special Cell received information that Asadullah would deliver a big consignment of heroin to one of his contacts in Malviya Nagar area on January 8. A trap was laid and the accused was arrested. The search of his shoulder bag led to the recovery of six kilograms of heroin.Investigating officials stated that the accused supplied heroin in Delhi, NCR and North India. Heroin was being smuggled into India from Afghanistan by various members of this cartel. "Asadullah told the police that he used to supply heroin to various people of African origin residing in Delhi. Moussa Zie, an Ivory Coast national, was taken into custody on January 9 on the instance of Asadullah. His bag was searched and two kilograms of heroin was seized from Zie," said Pramod Kushwah, Deputy Commissioner of Police, Special Cell. The duo also told the police that other Afghan nationals bring consignments of heroin in their stomach by swallowing heroin-filled capsules and sometimes in secret cavities of their bags in aeroplanes as per the directions of Afghan-based kingpin of this cartel. He also disclosed that he procured the last consignment of heroin from Afgan carriers sent by the kingpin about a week ago. "Asadullah told the police that he himself has brought two consignments of heroin in his stomach. He has also revealed that he has been visiting India frequently on a medical visa for the purpose of smuggling of heroin. Members of this cartel had already supplied more than 100 kilograms of heroin in Delhi during the last year," said Kushwah. Moussa Zie informed the police that he came to India in India in July 2017 on a tourist visa for a period of six months but did not go back despite the visa being expired. A Nigerian national lured him in the drug trade and he acted as a carrier of heroin for him for six months. Later he developed his own network and claimed to have supplied heroin to other countries including Canada, England, France, South Africa etc through courier companies. In pursuit of this drive against the drug cartels, Special cell had recovered about 200 kgs of heroin in the last year.
