South Delhi Municipal Corporation felicitates 104 sanitation workers

The South Delhi Municipal Corporation (SDMC) on Wednesday awarded 104 sanitation workers for their contribution in improving SDMC's ranking in Swachh Sarvekshan 2018. Sanitation workers play a very important part in the improvement of SDMC's ranking," said Radha Krishan, press directorate, SMDC. In the camp, 100 sanitation workers applied for loans at low interest rate and 80 other registered themselves for skill development programmes. The corporation also announced that a special orientation programme for sanitation workers. 565 sanitation workers attended the camp.

The South Delhi Municipal Corporation (SDMC) on Wednesday awarded 104 sanitation workers for their contribution in improving SDMC's ranking in Swachh Sarvekshan 2018. The ranking has upped from 202 to 32 in Swachh Sarvekshan 2018. The workers were felicitated, and free health check-ups and an awareness camp at civic centre were organised for them too. In the camp, 100 sanitation workers applied for loans at low interest rate and 80 other registered themselves for skill development programmes. The corporation also announced that a special orientation programme for sanitation workers. The SDMC in association with National Safai Karamchari Commission will now take this forward by organising these camps in four zones. Speaking on the occasion, Mayor Narendra Chawla said, "We have been able to achieve a better ranking from 202 to 32 in Swachh Sarvekshan 2018 only because of hard work and dedication of sanitation workers. The SDMC has already released the full amount to sanitation employees. The cashless health scheme will become operational very soon as a few formalities are yet to be completed." The health check up camp included tests related to dentistry, eyes, blood sugar, blood pressure, bone density. The physicians also examined patients suffering from skin and bone diseases too. 565 sanitation workers attended the camp. "The SDMC acknowledges participation from every centre of organisation. Sanitation workers play a very important part in the improvement of SDMC's ranking," said Radha Krishan, press directorate, SMDC.
