Delhi Woman on bike thrown off flyover survives

NEW DELHI: A 20-year-old woman had a miraculous escape after being thrown off the Vikaspuri flyover during an accident on Monday afternoon. The trio was going to meet a friend.Witnesses told police that on the Vikaspuri flyover, another motorcycle brushed past them, making them lose balance. Her friends also suffered minor injuries and were discharged after treatment.Sapna is a resident of Budhela village near Vikaspuri and is pursuing graduation. The woman was riding pillion on a motorcycle when it was hit by an unidentified vehicle.Confirming the incident, DCP (west) Monika Bhardwaj said the woman, identified as Sapna, suffered a minor fracture and was out of danger. During medical examination, however, it emerged that Sapna had suffered a minor fracture and bruises.

A case under sections of causing hurt and dangerous driving was registered against unknown people at Vikaspuri police station.A preliminary probe revealed that Sapna was travelling from Paschim Vihar to Janakpuri on the motorcycle bearing the registration number DL 4S BL 2508 with two other friends, identified as Kunal and Jia. Kunal was riding the bike, Jia was seated behind him and Sapna behind her. The trio was going to meet a friend.Witnesses told police that on the Vikaspuri flyover, another motorcycle brushed past them, making them lose balance. Before they could recover, a speeding vehicle hit them. The intensity of the impact was such that Sapna was flung into the air and fell off the flyover while her two friends crashed into the barrier. CCTV camera located below the flyover captured the incident at 1.56pm. The 30-second footage showed a helmet coming down on the road, followed by Sapna. She missed a parked sedan by a whisker and was lucky not to come in front of any incoming vehicle on the stretch. As soon as she fell, passersby rushed to her rescue even as she lay unconscious.On the flyover, her two friends also lay injured. They were taken to Deen Dayal Upadhyay hospital for further treatment. During medical examination, however, it emerged that Sapna had suffered a minor fracture and bruises. Her friends also suffered minor injuries and were discharged after treatment.Sapna is a resident of Budhela village near Vikaspuri and is pursuing graduation.
