Man held with gold bars at IGI airport

NEW DELHI: A 29-year old man was arrested at IGI airport for trying to smuggle in gold bars worth nearly Rs 27 lakh. On a tip-off, Customs officials intercepted him and carried out a detailed earch, which revealed the gold bars weighing 2kg hidden in a cavity in his luggage. Interrogation revealed that he had in the past smuggled gold and foreign currency worth nearly Rs 1 crore through different flights.The incident took place on Monday when the accused arrived in Delhi from Hong Kong and was intending to depart to Mumbai the next day.
