Delhi family meets with mishap on e-way, 2 dead

According to police, 25 persons have been killed on Yamuna Expressway this year, including 13 this month. It plunged into the gap between two flyovers after ramming into divider. The family hailed from Chandan Vihar of Prem Nagar, Delhi and the four were headed to Sultanpur.Sub inspector Raj Kumar, who was among the first to reach the accident spot, said, “The driver probably feel asleep on steering wheel and lost control on the speeding SUV. Victims were identified as Manorma (35) and her mother-in-law Ramvati (70), who were killed on the spot, while Manorma’s husband Rajesh Tiwari (37) and nephew Manoj Tiwari (22) were gravely injured.According to police, Manoj Tiwari was driving the vehicle at the time of incident. The accident was horrendous and it was quite difficult to take out victims from the mangled car.”Manoj Tiwari, the injured who gained consciousness at an Agra-based city hospital after first aid, said, “Don’t know what exactly happened as I was sleeping.”In another unfortunate incident two days ago, nine person were killed at the same section of expressway near milestone 138 after an ambulance jumped over the divider and suffered head-on-collision with a hatchback. According to police, 25 persons have been killed on Yamuna Expressway this year, including 13 this month.
