Image for representation only New Delhi: Sex workers were forced to bed at least 7 clients daily reveals a worker after a sex racket was busted leading to arrest of four persons in a joint operation conducted by the Delhi Commission For Women (DCW) and police in outer Delhi’s Aman Vihar, the women’s panel said Friday. The DCW acted upon receiving a call on women’s helpline 181 about a prostitution racket being run from a house in his neighbourhood in Aman Vihar. A DCW team raided the area on Thursday early morning and upon inquiry, the residents confirmed of an ongoing sex racket functioning during the daytime and also noticed four women entering the house around 10.30 am. The team stayed put until men started arriving at the scene and seen placing calls before being allowed inside the premises. Bamboo ‘chiks’ covered the house which made it difficult to see the activity being carried out inside the house. After informing the police, the DCW team barged into the premises and found six-seven men and three women in the house. The owner immediately acted and opened the back door to allow four persons escape but the residents caught then the women’s panel said. According to the DCW team, the sex workers were adults and were engaging in prostitution on their own will. The workers said they received Rs 250 per client and each woman “had to sleep with at least seven clients” during the day. Among the workers, one woman is in an orphan, another said she was a victim of physical abuse by her drug-addict husband and had chosen this way to support her family. The third girl, who was an Assamese, refused to reveal anything. “We received information from the DCW on Thursday and raided the premises. Three women and a man, the owner of the house, were arrested. Further investigation is underway, ” the police officer said.
