Sisodia said five years ago the people of Delhi elected seven MPs from Delhi to Parliament. “If the AAP government is doing some work for people why are they opposing it,” said Sisodia. Earlier in the day, Sisodia took a DTC bus ride along with mediapersons from Secretariat to Mandi House. I travel on bus which costs me Rs 4 to 5 every day. I work in a private factory in Faridabad and I have to spend Rs 120 on Metro ride every day.

Deputy CM says no dearth of funds to implement the initiative | Slams BJP for opposing it New Delhi, June 4 Deputy Chief Minister Manish Sisodia on Tuesday said free ride for women on Metro and buses scheme was getting positive response. At a press conference here, he said, “We are getting a good response on this scheme. It is our endeavour to make the public transport safe and affordable for all the women.” He said it was only the BJP which was opposing the scheme and misleading the people of Delhi. “I don’t know why BJP is opposing this. Do they have any problem with women?” he said. He assured that there was no dearth of funds while implementing the scheme. Sisodia said five years ago the people of Delhi elected seven MPs from Delhi to Parliament. But they did nothing for Delhi residents. “If the AAP government is doing some work for people why are they opposing it,” said Sisodia. Earlier in the day, Sisodia took a DTC bus ride along with mediapersons from Secretariat to Mandi House. He stopped at bus stops and talked to some woman commuters. “Everyone appreciated this scheme. Some women said this will ensure our safety and we will be able to save around Rs 3000 every month,” he said. He boarded different buses at ITO, near WHO building, Police Headquarters, INA Market, Lodhi Road and Connaught Place. A bus commuter Satya Devi, at Mandi House bus stop, said “I never travelled on Metro. I travel on bus which costs me Rs 4 to 5 every day. This is a very good decision. Now I can also travel on Metro.” Monica Chahan, a frequent bus commuter said, “It’s not a practical and long-term policy. I think the government is announcing such schemes keeping Assembly elections in the mind. And they know that people will forget it in two-three months.” She said there was no safety in Metro feeder buses and not every DTC bus had marshalls. “Earlier, travelling in Metro was cheap. But after the Centre government increased the Metro fare in the past, it also became unaffordable for us. I work in a private factory in Faridabad and I have to spend Rs 120 on Metro ride every day. If implemented properly, I could save more tha Rs 3,000 per month,” said Rangoli Seth, who lives in Chandi Chowk.
