Car rams into crowd outside mosque

No casualty reported, car involved in the incident was stolen, say Delhi PoliceTribune News Service/PTINew Delhi, June 5A car allegedly rammed into a crowd near a mosque in Shahdara in East Delhi when devotees were leaving after Eid prayers on Wednesday, said the police. Meghna Yadav, Deputy Commissioner of Police, Shahdara, said, “No casualty has been reported. “A CCTV footage revealed that the car involved in the incident was the one that was stolen from Madhu Vihar on May 30. It is likely that the person driving the vehicle panicked at the idea of being caught and rammed into the crowd,” said a police official. Following the incident, people gathered at Khureji Chowk and damaged a Delhi Transport Coperation Air Conditioned (AC) bus.

A case has been registered and the police are trying to nab the driver.” According to a senior police officer, the white Honda City car hit several devotees who were coming out of the mosque in the Khureji area after offering namaz. Two persons were said to have sustained minor injuries without any major damage. “A CCTV footage revealed that the car involved in the incident was the one that was stolen from Madhu Vihar on May 30. It is likely that the person driving the vehicle panicked at the idea of being caught and rammed into the crowd,” said a police official. Following the incident, people gathered at Khureji Chowk and damaged a Delhi Transport Coperation Air Conditioned (AC) bus. They were later pacified by the police.
