South African woman held with 12.8-kg drugs

New Delhi, June 5The Central Industrial Security Force (CISF) seized 12.8-kg contraband from a foreigner woman at the IGI Airport here today. The woman was identified as Jalisa Amanda Yoliswa Thandeka, (South Africa national), who was supposed to travel from New Delhi to Johannesburg via Addis Ababa by a Ethiopian Airline flight. As many as 58 polythene pouches kept in brown cardboard packing and filled with a white powdery substance were found concealed in bed sheets. The NCB officials confirmed the substance to be pseudoephedrine drug weighing about 12.8 kg and worth approximately Rs 13 lakh. The woman and the drug are in the custody of the NCB.

She was taken to the random checking point at the departure gate of Terminal-3 for checking of her luggage. As many as 58 polythene pouches kept in brown cardboard packing and filled with a white powdery substance were found concealed in bed sheets. The matter was referred to senior officers of the CISF and the Narcotics Control Bureau (NCB). The NCB officials confirmed the substance to be pseudoephedrine drug weighing about 12.8 kg and worth approximately Rs 13 lakh. The woman and the drug are in the custody of the NCB. — TNS
