Don’t bill power consumers for six months: Sheila

Tribune News ServiceNew Delhi, June 8Delhi Pradesh Congress Committee (DPCC) president Sheila Dikshit demanded that the Aam Aadmi Party Government in Delhi should not bill power consumers in Delhi for the next six months. Addressing a press conference, Sheila Dikshit said the power companies had collected Rs 7,401 crore from the people on fixed charges and pension fund, and this money should be adjusted by not billing the consumers for the next six months. Sheila Dikshit said the government, in the name of giving big relief to the common people had created a drama by installing lakhs of new power meters to openly benefit the power companies. It increased the fixed charges on electricity bills manifold, which were nominal earlier, she said. Former Delhi Power Minister and DPCC working president Haroon Yusuf said from April 1, 2018 to March 31, 2019, the power companies had collected Rs 4,709 crore from the people.
