One held for duping ex-CJI of Rs 1 lakh

New Delhi, June 11The police on Tuesday arrested a man accused of cheating former Chief Justice of India RM Lodha. Lodha was duped off Rs 1 lakh after the email account of his colleague was hacked. Dinesh Mali, the accused, was arrested from Udaipur on June 7. An ATM card through which he withdrew the amount was also recovered. “A case was registered on Lodha’s complaint, wherein he alleged that he had transferred Rs 1 lakh through RTGS to his colleague’s account after receiving an email from his ID,” Parvinder Singh, Additional Deputy Commissioner of Police (South), said.

The incident came to light on May 30 after Lodha, a resident of Panchsheel Park, received an email from a retired Supreme Court judge, stating his ID was hacked by some unknown person on April 18. “A case was registered on Lodha’s complaint, wherein he alleged that he had transferred Rs 1 lakh through RTGS to his colleague’s account after receiving an email from his ID,” Parvinder Singh, Additional Deputy Commissioner of Police (South), said. —TNS
