AAP seeks approval for rainwater project

New Delhi, June 26AAP leader Sanjay Singh on Wednesday urged the Central Government to approve a rainwater harvesting project near the Yamuna proposed by the Delhi Government. Initiating a debate on the water crisis in the country in the Rajya Sabha, Sanjay Singh said, “We want to store rainwater near the Yamuna. But we cannot do that without the approval of the Centre.”“We had proposed a rainwater storage project, but we need Centre’s support otherwise, Delhi will face large-scale water crisis in 2020,” he said. He informed the House that the AAP government has increased the drinking water availability to 88 per cent from 55 per cent four and a half years ago. Therefore, a rainwater storage project is required.
