Govt to provide Rs 10cr for Guru’s anniversary

Tribune News ServiceNew Delhi, August 13The Delhi Government has provided Rs 10 crore for the programmes to celebrate Guru Nanak Dev’s 550th birth anniversary year. The decision was taken at a meeting of the Governing Council of Punjabi Academy chaired by Deputy Chief Minister Manish Sisodia today. The Deputy CM launched a digital library based on the life of Guru Nanak Dev in Delhi. Addressing the meeting, Sisodia said Guru Nanak Dev was a common man, not only Sikhs but also people of other religions have great respect for him. Keeping this in mind the government had started lighting day programmes through the academy with a major programme in the Delhi Assembly.

The Deputy CM launched a digital library based on the life of Guru Nanak Dev in Delhi. They also agreed to build the museum and instructed the concerned authorities to look into the place. Addressing the meeting, Sisodia said Guru Nanak Dev was a common man, not only Sikhs but also people of other religions have great respect for him. Keeping this in mind the government had started lighting day programmes through the academy with a major programme in the Delhi Assembly.
